As we enter winter the cold is starting to numb our fingers and frost our cars, Circus in a Flash is looking forward to the excitement, drama and warmth fire entertainment brings to light up even the coldest weather. The best bits about winter are cosy fires, hot chocolate, and of course, fire breathing! Tony Jenkins is a professional fire performer for Circus in a Flash and tells us a bit about why fire performing is a dream come true for him.
From a young age Tony Jenkins wanted to become an entertainer and fire performer. Tony has been fire performing for 12 years now after getting into it when a friend took him to a fire night gathering in Auckland. “I got hooked on the art and never looked back, I never dreamt that many years on I would be a professional fire dancer and doing what I love for a living.”
“My days are filled with fire performance training and practicing juggling techniques. Circus in a Flash has allowed me to be part of something special and to hone my skills. Improving is a big part of what I do, and I do it every day.”
With years of practice the fire service has become accustom to calls from worries people walking by. “One day I was practicing in the back yard, a person walking by had called in worried as they kept seeing fireballs in the air above my house. The fire brigade turned up and said they were concerned.” After explaining that Tony was a professional fire performer with a safety person on site, the fire service was happy and moved on, although the occasional call about fire balls in the air still occur.
Tony can regularly be found performing for us at Hobbiton events including their Summer Harvest, World Hobbit Day, Winter Solstice and other celebrations (check out the video below!). If you are looking for a fire performer for your winter event or private party book Tony now to really fire up your event.
